On Friday, Hsiao delivered a speech titled “Taiwan: A Trusted Partner in a Volatile World” at an event held by the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC) inside the European Parliament complex.
IPAC comprises members of legislatures from 43 countries and the European Parliament promoting hawkish policies towards Beijing.
During her speech, Hsiao advocated strong partnerships between Europe and Taiwan and highlighted the significance of peace across the Taiwan Strait.

Beijing sees Taiwan as part of China to be reunited by force if necessary. Most countries, including the US, do not recognise Taiwan as an independent state, but Washington is opposed to any attempt to take the self-ruled island by force and is committed to supplying it with weapons.
