LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, met with the officials of two major Chinese investment companies. The Chinese investors expressed their intention to invest billions of rupees in the textile, auto parts, and transport sectors.
Shenzhen sea Energy Power Holding Company will invest in the textile and auto parts sectors, while the Zhihyuzun Group will invest Rs 3 billion in the transport sector. These investments are expected to create around 21,000 employment opportunities. Formal agreements between the Punjab Industries & Commerce Department and the Chinese companies will be signed soon.
Patrick, head of the Shenzhen company delegation, stated that their group requires 250 acres of land in Quaid-e-Azam Business Park, Sheikhupura for setting up textile and auto parts units. Luo, head of the Zhihyuzun Group, said that his company plans to launch an intercity bus project in Punjab under a public-private partnership. In the first phase, 120 buses will be operational, and in the second phase, another 300 buses will be added to intercity routes. Mr. Luo added that upon the project’s success, their bus manufacturing plant will also be relocated to Punjab.
Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Minister Chaudhry Shafay Hussain warmly welcomed the Chinese investment, assuring them that the Punjab Government will provide every possible facility. He said Punjab’s Special Economic Zones offer vast opportunities for investment across multiple sectors, with special incentives for foreign investors.
