
Pricing mistakes often happen – where items may scan higher than shelf prices, or you don’t get a discount owed to you. If you are a fan of supermarket specials – the three for the price of two-type ones, as well as regular price drops – are you making sure that the promised discounts are reflecting at the till? If not, you are very likely losing out on a regular basis. Given the massive volume of supermarket transactions, and the volatility of grocery prices, it’s inevitable that pricing mistakes will happen – that is, some products will scan at the till point at a price higher than that displayed at the shelf. If you notice – either while still in the store, or when back home, on examining your till slip – you’re entitled to a refund of the overcharge. If that happens in a Pick n Pay or Woolworths store, you’re entitled to a lot more than that.
