KARACHI: President Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Atif Ikram Sheikh has said that the cut of 100 billion rupees in the development budget compared to the current year is worrying.
A development budget of 1500 billion rupees was expected in the next financial year, said Atif Ikram Sheikh.
An increase in the federal and provincial development budget is inevitable to continue the journey of economic recovery, he said.
Improvement of infrastructure is inevitable to provide Pakistan with a sustainable economic foundation, said President FPCCI.
He said the development budget should be raised to increase local production and provide employment.
“The business community is aware of the government’s difficulties, but an increase in the development budget is possible,” Atif Ikram Sheikh
The government should ensure a significant increase in the budget of the defence, education and health sectors, Atif Ikram Sheikh emphasised.
The government should provide relief to the industry in the budget and support to traders and investors restore confidence, he remarked.
