LAHORE: The 1320 MW Sahiwal coal power plant has taken immediate and effective steps to launch a comprehensive awareness initiative following the Nepra’s directions for safety awareness campaign 2025.

The Nepra’s awareness drive is for enhancing public awareness of electrical safety practices, minimize accidents, and promote safe handling of electrical systems in the surrounding community.

The Nepra letter specifically outlined five critical areas of focus, and we have taken proactive measures to ensure all these points were addressed thoroughly through our campaign.

The sahiwal coal plant team also organized street campaigns, where safety guidelines were shared with passers-by and local shopkeepers, emphasizing simple yet effective measures to avoid electrical hazards.

Another critical aspect of the campaign was targeting private electricians who often work in homes and small businesses, where electrical safety is frequently overlooked.

A fundamental part of the campaign was educating the community about how to respond in the event of an electrical accident. To achieve this, the Sahiwal plant team set up emergency response workshops and conducted drills for local residents and businesses, teaching them how to handle electrical accidents safely. As part of our commitment to the safety of our plant’s line staff, we ensured that they received in-depth training on electrical hazards, safe handling procedures, and proper maintenance of electrical systems, a spokesman of the plant said, adding: “We will continue to monitor and improve our efforts, keeping safety at the forefront of all our operations.”
