LAHORE: The Pakistan Dairy Association (PDA) and the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Monday agreed to extend facilitation to licensed industrial dairy units in their operations and regulatory compliance.

This consensus was reached during a meeting between PDA representatives and Punjab Food Authority Director General Muhammad Asim Javaid. The meeting was convened to discuss reforms in the dairy sector and improvements in regulatory policies.

The discussions focused on mutual consultation and forward-looking planning to enhance milk quality, upgrade regulatory standards, and streamline licensing procedures. Both parties agreed on the importance of supporting licensed dairy units in maintaining compliance.

The DG PFA stated that the Authority is taking concrete steps to improve the nutritional value and labelling standards of flavoured milk as a healthier alternative to soft drinks. He stressed that transparent ingredient labelling is essential for promoting consumer awareness and building trust.

He further said that the supply of nutritious milk and public awareness campaigns would be expanded across Punjab to support children’s health. Rigorous monitoring of milk quality at dairy collection centres is already underway.

Acting on the directives of the Chief Minister of Punjab, DG Asim Javaid reaffirmed that protecting public health remains PFA’s top priority. He added that the Authority is committed not only to food safety but also to the sustainable development of the food industry.
