ISLAMABAD: A sub-committee of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Wednesday reviewed audit objections related to the Ministry of Information Technology and the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) for financial years 2011-12 to 2022-23.
The panel, chaired by Moeen Amir Pirzada, noted that the Technology Park Development Project – approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) in 2016 – remains incomplete.
Despite approval in 2016, construction did not begin until at least two years later. Audit officials told the committee that one of two vehicles purchased for the project was unaccounted for, and that overall progress stood at 80 percent.
Project officials disputed the missing vehicle claim, stating both vehicles were present. They said the project is being executed in collaboration with South Korea’s Export-Import Bank and is expected to be completed within the current year. Equipment has already been procured, they added.
The committee directed audit authorities to conduct a physical verification of the reported 80 percent project completion.
Separately, the sub-committee also reviewed audit observations concerning PAEC for the same financial years.
