The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Wednesday extended the income tax return filing deadline for manual filers until November 30, 2025, as part of its facilitation measures for taxpayers transitioning to the digital system.

The move aims to support individuals who previously filed manual returns and may face challenges adapting to the online platform, according to an official statement.

Manual filing was discontinued from Tax Year 2024 as part of FBR’s ongoing efforts to fully digitize tax operations across Pakistan.

Distributors & retailers: Business integration with FBR system made mandatory

The FBR said that a dedicated facilitation cell will be established in each tax office to provide legal and technical assistance to taxpayers shifting from manual to online filing.

It has also extended the return filing deadline for manual filers until November 30, 2025, under Section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.

According to the statement, taxpayers visiting their respective tax offices will receive free assistance for registration and online filing.

New taxation measures: No contingency plan despite Rs275bn shortfall: FBR chief

To assist taxpayers, the FBR has set up dedicated facilitation cells in each tax office, providing both legal and technical support free of cost.

These cells will help taxpayers register and file their returns online and ensure smooth transition to the digital system.

The FBR said the initiative underscores its commitment to promoting a transparent, efficient, and fully digitized tax regime in the country.
