Huawei Technologies is set to launch its latest flagship smartphone, the Mate 80 series, and a new foldable handset next Tuesday, as industry speculation swirls over the use of its next-generation Kirin 9030 processor in these devices.
The Shenzhen-based telecommunications equipment maker on Monday said its new Mate series – including the basic Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, Mate 80 Pro Max and Mate 80 RS models – would be available for pre-order, but pricing and technical specifications were not provided.
On Tuesday, Huawei set a November 25 launch for both the Mate 80 series and the foldable Mate X7, which the company previewed online on the same day.
Huawei’s annual update of its flagship smartphone release is closely watched in the industry for details on the processor powering these devices, as mainland Chinese media and tech blogs have recently speculated that the new handsets would run the company’s self-developed Kirin 9030 chip.
The company on Tuesday did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
