Thatta Cement Company Limited (TCCL) announced on Wednesday that its Board of Directors had approved the development of an additional wind power project with an installed capacity of 7.5 MW.

TCCL shared the development in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange today.

The notice stated that the directors approved the project following the successful completion and commissioning of the company’s 4.8 MW wind power project.

“Upon completion of this new project, the company’s total installed capacity from renewable energy sources will increase to 17.3 MW, comprising two wind power projects of 4.8 MW and 7.5 MW, along with an existing 5 MW solar power installation,” the listed company shared.

It added that the expansion will significantly enhance the contribution of renewable energy in the company’s overall energy mix and reflects our continued commitment to sustainable environmental practices.

“The investment in renewable energy projects is expected to result in substantial cost savings while also contributing to the reduction of the country’s reliance on fossil fuels.”

There has been a growing shift towards alternative energy sources in Pakistan, especially solar, which has become increasingly popular among residential and commercial sectors.
