The stations will use AC power at 22 kilowatts each, placed strategically in Parkin’s locations
Parkin Company PJSC (Parkin), Dubai’s provider of paid public parking facilities and services, has announced a significant update regarding its electric vehicle (EV) charging partnership with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). In alignment with the first phase of this sustainability initiative, DEWA is set to install new charging stations in the first quarter of 2025. These stations will function on alternating current (AC) with a capacity of 22 kilowatts x 2 and will be strategically located across key parking sites managed by Parkin. Each charging station will cater to two parking spaces.
Specific parking locations selected for new charging stations
Specific on-street parking locations in zones A and C have been thoughtfully chosen to accommodate the new charging stations, which are situated within densely populated residential communities that have limited or no access to EV charging facilities. Also, customers will be able to pay the EV charging tariff and parking fee in a single, seamless transaction by utilizing Parkin’s app and linked digital wallet.
This strategic collaboration will significantly increase the total number of DEWA EV Green Charger stations in Dubai, allowing customers living or working in the vicinity to conveniently access EV charging infrastructure. The enhanced convenience for end-users will likely lead to a rise in utilization at parking spaces adjacent to the EV chargers, thereby improving overall operational efficiency and revenue potential.

DEWA currently boasts a wide network of EV Green Chargers, with approximately 740 charging points established throughout Dubai. The authority aims to extend this network to 1,000 charging stations by the end of this year. Introduced by DEWA in 2014, the EV Green Charger initiative further seeks to provide pioneering infrastructure for EV charging stations, thereby supporting the growing adoption of electric vehicles across Dubai.
