Etihad Airways has strengthened its presence in Russia with a significant capacity increase on its Abu Dhabi-Moscow route, providing enhanced travel options between the Middle East and Russia. Staring October 1, the airline is adding a third daily flight between Abu Dhabi and Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport (SVO), increasing the service to 21 flights per week.

Etihad Airways will operate the expanded service on the Airbus A320 aircraft, featuring 8 business and 150 economy seats.

Etihad expands Russia network

In addition to the Moscow frequency increase, Etihad Airways is continuing to expand its Russia network with new routes planned for 2025, including a new service to Sochi, Russia’s premier resort destination on the Black Sea coast, starting from May 29. Etihad will fly three-times a week between Zayed International Airport, Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Sochi International Airport (AER), timed to optimize a leisure break in summer or winter.

The increased Moscow service creates better connections for travelers from Russia to Etihad’s expanding global network, particularly to popular destinations across the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia and Australia. The triple-daily flights are perfectly timed to facilitate both business travel and leisure trips, giving guests the option to choose departures throughout the day to suit their schedules.

Eithad boosts flights to key destinations in 2025

Last week, Etihad Airways opened bookings for flights to Medan, the gateway to North Sumatra, Indonesia. The airline will start flights between Kualanamu International Airport (KNO), Medan, and Zayed International Airport, Abu Dhabi (AUH) on October 2, 2025. Etihad will fly to and from Medan on one of its new A321LR aircraft three times a week. The destination is just one of 14 already announced by Etihad this year, with more expected to come.

The announcement is the latest new route unveiled by Etihad. The airline will also commence flights to metropolises including Atlanta, Hanoi, Hong Kong and Taipei, as well as to the European capitals of Prague and Warsaw this year. Expanding its network across North Africa, Etihad will also begin flying to Algiers, Tunis and Al Alamein in 2025.

Additionally, Etihad will bolster its network across Southeast Asia, with new connections directly to stunning holiday locations including Chiang Mai and Krabi in Thailand, Medan on the island of Sumatra and the cultural city of Phnom Penh. These join existing popular destinations across South East Asia including Phuket and Bangkok.
