My top 10 things to watch Tuesday, Aug. 26 1. Federal Reserve Board Governor Lisa Cook said she “will not resign” despite President Donald Trump saying he had fired her over allegations that she made false statements on home-mortgage applications. Cook has not been charged with any crime, though the Justice Department is investigating the matter. 2. It’s the eve of Nvidia earnings. When the leading AI chipmaker reports tomorrow night, watch for commentary on total cost of ownership and signs that any of the deep-pocketed hyperscalers are cutting back because of price. Watch for what its upgraded GB300 systems can do that its predecessor GB200 cannot. 3. Advanced Micro Devices scored an upgrade at Truist. Analysts believe the chipmaker’s AI processors are seeing greater traction at the hyperscalers and are no longer being seen as just a price check on Nvidia. The firm went to buy from hold with a price target of $213 a share from $173. 4. Club name Eli Lilly now has all the data it needs to submit its GLP-1 pill for regulatory review around the world. The latest trial helped Type 2 diabetes patients lose weight and improved blood sugar control, while having a lower discontinuation rate than the disappointing obesity-only trial data released earlier in August. Pills are easier to make, distribute and take than injectable GLP-1s. 5. Gutsy call by Canaccord Genuity, which upgraded identity security provider Okta to buy from hold ahead of second-quarter earnings Tuesday evening. Club name Palo Alto Network’s made a big splash in identity security last month with its deal for CyberArk. 6. Constellation Brands was downgraded to a sell-equivalent rating from neutral at Bank of America. Will the Modelo brewer cut its financial guidance before management presents at a Sept. 2 conference? We used to own this perilous stock for the Club. Beer is a bad market, and Constellation’s exposure to Hispanic consumers is an added layer of difficultly with lower immigration. 7. BofA started coverage of Oklo , one of the companies developing small nuclear reactor technology, with a buy rating on the stock. Nuclear is attracting a wave of interest thanks to AI power demands. The Air Force is planning to partner with Oklo on a project as well. 8. The most popular stock right now is evidently Ulta Beauty , which landed another price target bump, this time courtesy of Canaccord. The firm went to $630 from $600 and kept its buy rating. There’s been a ton of positive research in recent days on the cosmetics retailer, including a Barclays upgrade, ahead of earnings Thursday. 9. On the other hand, people really seem to have given up on Club name Salesforce as evidenced by the wave of PT reductions. This morning, Oppenheimer went to $315 from $370 and BofA went to $325 from $350. Both shops, however, kept their buy ratings. The “AI is eating software” theme is a dark cloud on the enterprise software cohort. 10. Interactive Brokers is joining the S & P 500 at the start of trading Thursday, replacing the soon-to-be-private Walgreens Boots Alliance . The brokerage and exchange stocks have benefited from the market environment. I took a look at the exchanges , in particular, a few weeks ago on “Mad Money.” Sign up for my Top 10 Morning Thoughts on the Market email newsletter for free (See here for a full list of the stocks at Jim Cramer’s Charitable Trust.)
