Premium Textile Mills Limited, a Pakistani textile firm, has approved a $4.15 million project to install a 7.5MW wind turbine, expanding its renewable footprint.

The listed company, engaged in the manufacturing and sale of cotton and polyester yarn, disclosed the development in its notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Monday.

“It is hereby informed that the Board of Directors of Premium Textile Mills Limited, through circular resolution dated November 24, 2025, has approved the purchase of a 7.5MW wind turbine,” read the notice, having an estimated cost of $4.15 million.

“Keeping up with our commitment towards sustainable environment practices, the contribution of renewable energy in the power mix will significantly increase after the completion of the above-mentioned project,” said the company.

Pakistan says rooftop solar output to exceed grid demand in some hubs next year

The development comes as companies in Pakistan are increasingly turning to renewable energy sources to enhance sustainability and reduce dependence on conventional power.

Premium Textiles shared that it has already installed 20MW of operational solar power generation capacity and is currently undertaking the installation of a 7.5MW wind turbine under an earlier approved project.

“After installation of the currently proposed 7.5MW wind turbine, the company’s total wind power capacity will increase to 15 MW,” it said.

The textile firm said that the new turbine is expected to be completed and commissioned by the last quarter of 2026.

Following the installation of the 15 MW wind turbine (7.5 × 2), the company is expected to produce approximately 55.2 GWh annually through wind energy, while avoiding 30,000 metric tons of carbon emissions per year.

The project will cover roughly 67% of the company’s overall energy requirement through a mix of renewable energy from both solar and wind power, it added.

Power cuts and tariff hikes have pushed Pakistani consumers, including both domestic and commercial,  to accelerate towards renewable adoption, especially solar.

Earlier in June, Dynea Pakistan Limited, a chemicals manufacturer, announced plans to develop a 1.1MW captive wind power project at Hub, Balochistan.
