LAHORE: District food controllers from across the Punjab province converged on Thursday to review the overall situation of warehouses in view of the flood conditions and decided to immediately transfer the wheat stock from Jhang to Toba Tek Singh to avoid any losses.

Secretary of Price Control Dr. Ehsan Bhutta chaired the meeting where DG Food Naveed Shahzad Mirza briefed the meeting on the overall situation of warehouses in view of the flood conditions.

The secretary of price control emphasised that every possible measure must be ensured for the protection of thousands of metric tons of wheat stored in flood-affected areas.

Guidance should be sought from the instructions issued by PDMA and from the district administration. Dr. Ehsan Bhutta also clarified that the market rates of wheat and flour were reviewed, and directions were issued for the strict implementation of bread prices.

He further directed that the supply chain of sugar and flour should be continuously monitored and the availability of ample stock must be guaranteed.
